Windsor Acquires Ambassador Lift Trucks

We are delighted to announce our acquisition of the Essex-based business, Ambassador Forklifts.

The deal concerns the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of Ambassador Lift Trucks Limited and takes the number of locations in Windsor’s branch network to 10. Ambassador maintains a diverse profile of customers such as Generation Hire, British Sugar and the Tower of London.

Managing director, Stephen Burton, believes the record growth and continued expansion of Windsor made this the ideal move.

This acquisition gives us excellent coverage in the South East, as well as bringing the entire staff of Ambassador into the Windsor family.”

Said Stephen: “This is a fantastic step forward for the business and something we’ve worked towards for a considerable amount of time. As a business we have a history of investing in our branches and developing our local market presence. This acquisition gives us excellent coverage in the South East, as well as bringing the entire staff of Ambassador into the Windsor family.”

Ambassador played an important role in the expansion of Komatsu forklifts in the South. The business began in 1994, firstly as a Nissan dealer before being appointed as a Komatsu and OMG distributor in 2008, and Clark dealer in 2012. At present, there are no plans to relocate the Witham branch, which will continue to be managed by Trevor De’Ath, and will now have access to Windsor’s extensive product line up.

Said Trevor: “The ethos of the Ambassador business is already closely aligned to Windsor, in that our focus is to treat each customer individually, providing high levels of customer service and paying special attention to individual requirements. Like Windsor we are very proud of our heritage, our services and our ambition. We place great value on knowledge and experience and aim to deliver excellent value for our customers through inspirational service.”

Stephen Burton maintains that it has always been the intention to re-invest the rewards of recent successes back into the business, and this move takes the company a step closer to the most complete national coverage of any UK independent.

Concludes Stephen: “We look forward to growing the Essex branch in terms of both personnel and infrastructure. As part of Windsor’s continued investment strategy in a national branch network, this is the first step to creating a significant presence in the south of England, and further steps are already in progress.”

With 10 local branches and over 110 service staff, Windsor provides a wide range of materials handling equipment, including diesel & gas forklifts, electric forklifts, warehouse equipment, side-loaders, large forklifts, container handlers, access equipment, cleaning equipment, articulating VNA, and tractor units.

Thanks to a local, one-stop approach for finance, hire, sales, maintenance and spares, Windsor has been able to add value via a quick, reliable and professional service, to a number national businesses including William Jackson Food Group, MKM Building Supplies and Nixon Hire.
