Doosan launches new electric B45X-7 Series

Doosan has launched a powerful new range of four-wheel electric counterbalance forklift trucks, the B45X-7 Series, offering greater durability, enhanced productivity, increased visibility and an extensive range of safety features as standard.

With four new models covering a capacity range from 4.0 – 5.0 tonne, businesses across a broad spectrum of industry – from manufacturing, wholesale distribution and food & drink to engineering, building supplies and transport & warehousing – will benefit from the improved capability, power and performance of Doosan’s latest mid-range electric trucks.

The versatility of electric power is now available in a durable and reliable vehicle, built for working long-shifts outdoors in wet or dusty conditions – making it a viable alternative to increasingly regulated IC Engine equivalents.

New three & four wheel models launched by Doosan

Doosan has launched a new range of 1.5 to 2.0 tonne electric forklifts, the 7-Series.

The four-wheel B18X-7 now turns to 86 degrees, reducing the forklift’s turning radius by 160mm to just 1795mm. According to forklift industry statistics, 37% of counterbalance trucks sold in the UK last year were electric – a trend expected to increase as the focus on emissions continues.

Electric trucks are especially popular in the food and drink, retail and distribution sectors.

Can Coca-Cola Save Lives?

This fascinating question has been posed by an independent non-profit organisation, ColaLife.

You can buy a Coca-Cola virtually anywhere in developing countries but in these same places up to 1 in 5 children die before their 5th birthday from simple preventable causes like dehydration from diarrhoea.

At the current rate of improvement in child survival, it will take more than 150 years for child mortality rates in developing countries to match those in Europe and the USA today.

ColaLife is working to bring Coca-Cola, its bottlers and others together to open up Coca-Cola’s distribution channels to carry ‘social products’ such as oral rehydration salts and zinc supplements to save children’s lives. The campaign hopes to put ‘AidPods’ between bottles in crates, allowing local agencies to ‘piggy-back’ on established supply chains, complete with SMS tracking.

Ergological Atlet

Atlet’s latest development is it’s new Ergologic joystick control for the new Tergo reachtrucks. To avoid fatigue and increase efficiency, the driver can vary his or her hand position and control all hydraulic functions in the most intuitive way. Up to seven functions (including lifting, lowering, reaching and tilting) can be incorporated in one control and it fits drivers, whatever their hand size.

Powering The Future

Doosan are to supply all new diesel 4.0t to 9.0t capacity trucks with a new Interim Euro Stage IIIB (iT4) engine, meeting all requirements of the European emissions directive (2004/26/EC) for vehicles in the 37 to 56-kW power range. Engine makers have been focussing on reducing emissions through a variety of ways in the run up to the implementation of Euro Stage 4 / Tier 4 emissions regulations, which comes into force for off road vehicles in 2014. Doosan, which manufacturers its own engines, feels the interim engine means it is on target to meet next year’s tough new standards.
